18 months in French oak 25% new, followed by 8 months in tank. 46-year old vines. Deep dull ruby in color. Subdued and muddled fruit on the nose: confected marshmallow, pomegranate skin, baking spices, and forest floor. The palate was much more intense with crunchy red berries, tar, smoke, and stony minerality. Elevated acidity, grippy medium+ levels of tannins. Some heat in the throat too. Medium finish.

Pinotage is not my bestie but this one is much better than most. Much better. Would be great with BBQ tempeh.

Fine producer, but I found this wine to be very muddled by heavily toasted oak and very obvious primary fruit flavors. Aromatically striking at first, but offering very little in the way of dimension. It could possibly shed some fat in the bottle and take on some complexity, but it shows very little sign of delineation in the early going and for me it’s a pass.

👁 granate, medio y limpidez alta 👃🏻 buena potencia, fruta negra madura, tinta china, chocolate, 👄 tánico, demasiado verde, bastante áspero en el paladar... flojo!!!

A pinotage made in a more modern style but still with great depth. This being the 2018 vintage means with age any tannins are resolved making this very food friendly.

Youngish purple colour, very earthy on the nose, like fallen overripe plums and dark mushrooms instead of fresh fruit, non distinct soupy taste. No, this is not my kind of wine, even after a few hours, the next day and the following day the wine rather put me off. A green wine, somewhat spicy, alcoholic and unfortunately not enjoyable.

Aromatically robust!! Rich, dark, full. Tar component and some smoky notes. At cellar temp there was a little crunch that calmed down with a few degrees. Structure also gave way nicely .very fruit fwd and quite dark. Brooding! Def not lie in alc. 2016 in 10/20. Swrly.
