Beaulieu Vineyard
Reserve Maestro Collection Beaulieu No. 2 Cabernet Sauvignon
Opens with a dark garnet color, juicy, ripe blackberries and blueberries, dried flowers, sweet tobacco, brown sugar, coriander, cocoa powder, and a slight menthol and chemical note ( my husband said it reminded him of model glue). I know that sounds bad, but it was not offputting. The tannins were still surprisingly firm but I liked it better than the first time I had it a year ago. I would recommend a careful decant, because this wine had plenty of sediment in it. It paired well with garlic Parmesan creamed kale and a smokey New York steak.

Apr 2nd, 2016Big yet nuanced, single vineyard yet two different cab clones, fruity yet layered. All with that Rutherford dusty character. Decant it for 4+ hours minimum, a day is better, and by day two you know it's really something special.
