Bastide de la Ciselette is one of the newest entrants to Bandol, only opening its doors in 2010. Both their rosé and red Bandol wines are excellent and welcome additions to their tiny categories. The 2017 rosé demonstrates tremendous complexity, especially considering its youth. Grassy, herbaceous flavors of jasmine and lavender meet notes of leather and garrigue, as well as a distinctively bitter tahini-like quality on the biting finish. A whopping 72% Mourvèdre (a high percentage for Bandol rosé) deserves much of the credit for the wine's character.

The description: Mostly famous for its dark, rich and powerful reds, Bastide de la Ciselette offers a rosé with a full spectrum of aromas including wild raspberries, blood orange, ruby red grapefruit and white pepper. The mouth has a rich texture and notes of sage, rosemary and pink peppercorn.
The opinion: The description is accurate but and it’s very good but previous years better; normally mark it a 9 or better.
