This is the Estate Pinot Noir. Comparing the two Bass Phillip Estates from the same vintage, 2018. This Pinot Noir is sappy and savoury on nose and palate. Light to medium bodied, red fruited. A little too much acid for the available fruit with the 2018 vintage. This wasn’t one of the better BP Estate Pinot Noirs, and I have had many. Still enjoyable in the lighter spectrum.

The entry level cuvée of around 5 different Pinot Noirs for Bass Phillip. Slightly cloudy in appearance with aromas of red berry and a little caramel oak. Certainly has the BP Pinot Noir DNA - just detuned using younger vines to a drink now style. Light bodied.

A hint of cloudiness which has since been eliminated from Bass Phillip Pinots. Earthy cherry notes with very dry tannins. Still an excellent Pinot in the Bass Phillip mould. Had another bottle on 22 October. Colour of cold black tea. Complex nose and palate of more savoury tertiary notes with much of the primary fruit having moved on. A delicious aged Pinot Noir.

This is the 1996 Bass Phillip Reserve Pinot Noir. First time for everything!I have never had a 20 year old Australian Pinot Noir before. Cloudy appearance which happened from time to time with BPs wines in the 90s in no way effecting the brilliant palate which is rich and full. The nose has sweet berry, cherry liqueur notes with a touch of cinnamon spice. Refreshing even at 20 years. Soft smooth tannins with a trace of acid (natural acidity with BP wines). Would love to hear from any other Delectable members who may have had a 20 year old New World Pinot Noir and their thoughts.

Could tell it was a Pinot with age from the color with tawny rim. Notes of compost heap/mulch/forest floor. Very sappy/stalky palate - some sour cherry. Low tannins still with enough acid to carry on for a while. Great intensity and a delicious wine. 2007 vintage of the Estate Pinot.

Bass Phillips 3rd best Pinot Noir - the Estate from the 2007 vintage. Nose of sour cherry, rhubarb and stalky sappiness but fruit dominant. A delicious wine with palate staining intensity. With some years to go. 18.
