Nice wine, but given how little straight up merlot I drink, it is hard to compare to anything else. It is from the Black Sage bench, which I believe is a new designated wine area. Black cherry and fruity nose was great, but the smooth finish seemed to disapate quickly. Still, great value at 21 bucks or so. Great winery to visit.

87% Merlot and 13% Cab Franc in this strong effort from Bartier Brothers on the Lower Black Sage bench. The nose improved after an hour or so, on the palate I get black fruit and licorice with some spice.
