Really hoped for more; opened after being very surprised with the Barbaresco but knowing if that was at its prime, we needed to get that baseline! Notes of violets and vanilla; bright cranberry and cherry wood with elegance throughout. Not great for the vintage/varietal…but splendid for the price

Drank 1/6/19. Nice pairing with Lasagna Bolognese.

Trader Joe's Value buy.

Nose of violets, wildflowers, and cherry. Cherry, leather and dusty earth backed by firm, drying tannins. The fruit on the finish finish fades a bit quickly, leaving dry tannic notes that last 30+ seconds. Pleasant, but nothing super impressive. Still, one of the better Trader Joe's bottles I've had.

Re-visited on day 3, and more floral notes do emerge, a long with some tilled soil. Tannins seem better integrated. This may improve a point or so with a couple of years.

3/21/7/3/4 + 50 =88 pts.

Didn't like the first sip. Very dry and full of tannens. It opened up nicely and with a dry but with a clean robust finish

Barolo Riserva 2018 – Berreri & Rovati
Barolo DOCG, Piemonte, Italy 🇮🇹

Overview
A well-balanced and approachable Barolo Riserva from the excellent 2018 vintage, showcasing Nebbiolo’s elegance in a more accessible, casual style. This Riserva delivers structure and harmony without heaviness, making it an appealing value-driven expression of classic Barolo character.

Aromas & Flavors
Lifted aromas of dried rose petals and tart red fruits immediately stand out, followed by subtle earthy undertones and hints of spice. The profile remains clean, varietally expressive, and inviting from start to finish.

Mouthfeel
Supple and smooth tannins for a Barolo Riserva, especially at this stage. Medium-bodied with a polished texture and good balance, offering an easygoing yet authentic Nebbiolo experience.

Food Pairings
Braised meats, mushroom-based dishes, truffle pasta, risotto, or aged hard cheeses such as Parmigiano Reggiano.

Verdict
A solid and well-crafted Barolo Riserva that hits a sweet spot between tradition and approachability. Casual in style yet respectful of Nebbiolo’s brilliance, this is a great-value option for enjoying Barolo without waiting decades.
