RS Venezia Giulia Merlot - Pignolo Blend

Interesting wine. Love the nose. Great plum and spice character. Slight VA on the palate or I would have rated higher.

Not bad and surprisingly tame for the producer. A blend of 75% Merlot and 25% Pignolo. Punchy and structured, with sticky tannins, bright acidity, and generous sprinkle of spices. Worth a revisit on another occasion, particularly with the right food.

First time with a Radikon red. Stunning structured blue and black fruit with plush tannins by Italian standards. Refined herbaceous and earthy undertones that really complemented smoked ribs.

I had read some rather foreboding reviews of this online. Lo and behold they were correct—seems to have wild amounts of VA…and brett too. Basically not potable. I have liked the whites/orange wines from Radikon I had previously but this is not for me.

Deep ruby opaque with lots of sediment, mature and well balanced, minerals and acidity with tart cherries, light bodied lovely!

Always donned in crushed purple velvet and nail polish remover.

Tacky but distinct, full of marooned mouse and VA.

Sour balsamic cherries, chocolatey dates, and wooly blanket.

RS is raw elegance, not quite the wild spirit of Slatnik. An aromatic trip with two keys, sequential amplitudes, each time you go in, on repeat.

The basic level is bing cherries, prune, game, and brown leather. Some chauffeur, maybe alcohol, lifts this to a more interesting, brighter red strawberry, cedar, rose petal, acetone profile.

Elegant, concentrated integrated post nasal happenings too. Soft texture wraps and protects against high acid chalky minerals, grippy tannins. Dried strawberry plumb finish.

A clean and more floral Radikon than expected, refreshing with salinity on the finish
