Nose is relatively mute initially. But then each aroma reveals itself. Beautiful cherry, like stunning and detailed cherry like you will not believe. Holy shit. Sawdust. Like wood shop, end of class, 8th grade sawdust. So pure. Spice. Some roses. Heavenly nose. Palate is exquisite. Amazing ripe tannins intermingled with dynamic fresh and super deep cherry fruit. Palate is elegant. No hard edges. Superb power and concentration. Dense yet lithe. Superb sap and length. Amazing build on the finish. One of those finishes when you think it ends it really is just beginning. Wow. After like 15 minutes this nose goes into overdrive. Just an insane perfume that leaps out of the glass.

This is simply an intense, masterful, delicious bottle. High tone, with an intricate and developing nose of rose water, amaretto, fresh sawdust, rock dust, and white pepper. Palate is intense with long deep juicy red cherry feel, and powerfully grippy but finessed tannins. Rounds out with tar and crushed granite, and a long building finish. Sheesh @Lyle Fass

Drinking beautifully now. Light aromatics; leather, vegetal, medium tannin, violet, camphor, cherry skins—beautiful work. @Lyle Fass the Q man does it again.

It only got better with time.
Anyone have a jar of Trader Joe’s Amarena Cherries in their fridge?… well, a whole new world is here.
Upon pouring, the nose is decidedly nice…if innocuous, you may think you’ve had that one before…you may be mistaken.
light cherries , wood shavings, graphite, the mysterious forest you wish to be in.
After a while that nose and palate deepen to .. forgive me.. something Kirsch like, sappy, very cherry with all kinds of tertiary qualities appearing. A little funk, a bit of acidity, some flowers( big red ones),and masonry bricks hot in the sun. On the palate, it’s rich, not cloying, full w/o corners, enveloping. With braised pork butt, porcini & fennel seed served with polenta it’s hard to ask for a better companion

So well made
Nose: elegant library dust.
Palate: delicious dark cherry fruit. So well delineated. Utterly delicious.

Now that’s frikkin’ delicious. Even w a post Covid mouth. Mentholated cherry dirt that is always evolving. The color is brick, that dark but translucent red on it’s way to brown. Some have noted in previous vintages a muted nose, but while not exuberant, that Piedmonte sense comes through. Lots of most pleasant dirt on the palate chased by dark cherries, no glimmer of heat at 14.5°. Could be six years that helped.
Marvelous stuff.
