Exceptionally rich yet nervy, Lohsa 2013 Morellino di Scansano is certainly cut along the local Sangiovese lines of this DOCG but this is cut of a finer woolen and fragrant cloth true to the Poliziano house whose handsome strength comes through in savory spiced cherries and al dente tannins. A wine to serve with wild boar or crispy duck.

Deep claret red. Fresh and woodsy on the nose, it yields flavors of cedar, cherrywood, black cherries, and tobacco. Grippy textured with bright acidity and juicy cherry fruits. Uncomplicated but pleasing.

Morellino di Scansano DOCG 2012, 14. Aged in oak barriques for about 8 months. Garnet color. Elegant and sophisticated, balanced and very well made.

Like walking into a barn early morning. Pleasant and more to the elegant side. Light for a morellino (at least the ones i have tried)
