Medium red hue with perhaps a hint of orange. The nose is a very pleasant and inviting dark red fruit with tar, cedar, tobacco, spice, and a hint of eucalyptus. Red and cassis flavors, tar and spice flavored on the palate. Medium length finish at the most which ends with with moderate mouth coating tannins that dominate at the end. Slightly more oxidized on the second day. Paired nicely with braised beef short ribs in red wine; which also help subdue the tannins. Decent wine for the money but not as good as the (similarly aged) 2000 Pio Cesare Oranato.
