Vigna Corvino Montepulciano d'Abruzzo

Rustic fruit, licorice, a little tar, fresh herbs and nice acidity. Great wine for the price.

Purple in color, with chalky fruit, mixed/wild berry, unripe plum/plum skin, licorice, dried herbs, raspberry compote and a hint of rubber on the nose. Nice acidity, plum/raspberry, medium to medium plus tannin, wet rocks and fennel tops on the palate with chalky minerality on the finish. Fun wine, needs time but should be interesting around 2018 or so..

£7.50 Wine Society Bright, Beaujolais style, bubblegum cherry fruit here but also some more serious hedgerow berry notes coming through. In the mouth the light body is nicely backed up by the tight but not bitter blackberry and redcurrant fruit, low acidity but good, fruity, mouth coating tannins. 87pts
