Avalon
Cab Lodi Cabernet Sauvignon
A nice everyday Cabernet from Lodi, California. Showing black and red fruits with earth, chocolates, vanilla, wood, tobacco and spices.
Dry and fruity on the palate with a short finish.
Aged in French and American oak barrels for 8 months.
I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses.
13.5% alcohol by volume.
86 points.

May 29th, 20192016v. I thought I was picking up the Avalon Cali blend cab sav, but this one says Lodi on it. That might explain my surprise. Perhaps a change in source? The black fruit (think blackberries, plum) is pretty ripe and jammy. There's a pretty hefty dose of American oak- vanilla, spice, slight char- coming through. It's not a bad wine, but not what I was expecting. This has more of a Lodi zinfandel profile and would pair better w grilled meats and burgers. Now I know to double check the label! 13.5% ABV.
