One of the more austere Kabinetts I've had in recent memory. Tasted as part of a flight of younger German Rieslings from the Terry Theise portfolio, and I was reminded of his statement that with regard to residual sugar, "the wines should have as little as possible but as much as necessary". Here we have the true embodiment of that phrase; everything is in balance and it will age gracefully. My impression at this stage is more minerality and precision than sweetness and primary fruit; subtle hints of petrol on the nose and nice floral quality as well. The fruit will develop nicely in bottle over the next 10-15 years, without a doubt. Super food wine that was a delight to drink on its own.
