Light ruby in color with a reddish rim and medium intensity.
Fruity nose of blackberries, raspberries, bing cherries, licorice, light oak, spices, red candy, chocolates, black pepper, earth and cloves.
Medium bodied with medium acidity and nice legs.
Dry on the palate with plums, cherries, earth, light wood, vanilla, licorice, coffee, sweet raspberries, vegetables, tobacco, herbs, spices, mushrooms and peppercorn.
Spicy finish with soft tannins and tangy raspberries.
This is a simple Pinot Noir from California. Drinkable, but nothing special. Not fully balanced and better with food. Not bad for an everyday red.
I paired it with cheeses and light appetizers.
Wine Enthusiasts 84 points.
Fermented in stainless steel and then aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.
14.5% alcohol by volume.
83 points.
$15.

Apr 5th, 2019This wine is a bit over rated, not as round or balanced as I would expect from Santa Lucia Highlands. Kind of bitter, I gave it several hours to open up and soften to no avail. Not fruit forward as I've found with other Pinot Noirs in this region.
