At an old school mate and fellow Pinot nut up at Maroochydore. Never had an aged Ata Rangi before and it was marvellous. Thanks John! Always one of the best Pinots in New Zealand, at 10 years it has dropped a lot of the aromatic red fruits of its youth and become much more Burgundian with savoury earthy mushroom and compost heap nuances. A beautiful wine.

Magnum of atarangi. One of the best pinots in the world and would give most burgundy’s a run for their money

Wow. Bright currants and figs in the nose. Big body, more dried fruit, cherries and black pepper with nice acidity. I wish it were just a bit drier on the end, slightly syrupy.

A very nice wine with great spicy flavours and red cherry and raspberry aromas and flavours. Would be great with foods with a sweeter marinade such as hoisin Peking duck. Fantastic wine!! Med acid, med tannin. Love it!
