Very smooth. A bit smoky. I know I should have shown more patience but I have been waiting on this one a few years and was in the mood. Very good and I suspect would have a lot more complexity a few years from now.

1995 Artadi Vina El Pison Rioja. Dinner w D&M H and B&K K at Woo. Last wine of the night after ‘82 Lopez, ‘82 Vina Real, and ‘85 Contino. This wine was the most refined, but also the biggest. Really enjoyed.

my humble advise: decant a day before serving and ask yourself how single vineyard, biodynamic rioja should sound like.

simply put: this! is! fantastic!

this is contemporary high end red drinking. drinkability (although not low in alcohol) and freshness are stunning along the complexity and lenght. delicate blueberry, graphite galore, spices, dark leather. silky texture in a perfect way.
no cedar or vanilla overload, for god's sake.

this wine makes me smile. full stop.
asking myself why not full points: how memorable is the wine? will it fade? imho this IS a criteria as it strikes the emotional aspect of wine - which is more important than academic drinking schedule....
