I am not sure if this bottle was not stored properly or just over the hill. A subdued nose that needed tons of air & coaxing but really never gave you what one expects from this producer. The palate very Italian, acid and structure, but flavors appeared muted & clenched rather than held back. Disappointing given what this producer is capable of.

Excellent. Smoke, cherry, and a redwood forest like note. Super soft but present tannins and acid is still bright. Very grateful for this one.

Chestnuts! Tart attack leads to musty, earthy, forest floor notes. Silky, dry, gentle tannins. Feels at its peak.

Improved on day 3. Continuing to reveal herbal/citrus peel notes. Really lovely.

Lovely. Cherry, fig, licorice, pine, stones, and edges of smoke. Opens up beautifully with an hour in the decanter. 11 years is the perfect time for the tannins to integrate leaving a soft and supple texture. I dare someone not to love this wine.

Barbaresco with a drop of Cerasuolo. Great fruit, seductive acid.

The Burgundy bottles show more development due to extended maceration and adding. Vinous and complex

Has to be one of the best wines I have ever tasted. Giacosa has a wine to look up to. Fresh but mature, bright but thoughtful, the perfect harmony of all components. A Masterpiece.
