Arista Winery
El Diablo Vineyard Chardonnay
16’Arista UV-EL Diablo Chardonnay. What makes these wines so absolutely fantastic since 2013...to me it is obvious, Matt has turned this winery around. If you like a hammer style Chardonnay such as Kongsgaard/Morlet/Peter Michael. This is not necessarily your wine.
Chardonnay that’s not heavily coded by let’s say vanilla Bean “You guess it”Elegance/finesse/balanced & CLASSY. Unlike his Ferren Wines (Love them)this has slightly less punch. Highly recommend.

Not as rich as the ‘15 but with the same bright fruit. Well balanced with more forward acidity supporting the touch of vanilla and the citrusy finish.

Dec 20th, 201914’ Arista UV-EL Diablo Vineyard Chardonnay. Old world!?! Burgundian style!?! Needs another year or more!!
Rich & layered. White flowers, white peach, fig, minerality. Light on its feet. Very well-made Chardonnay.
Matt Courtney winemaker, somebody I enjoy following. Matt started up Ferren wines a few years back. EDIT- Your worst fears... last glass was better then the first. WAIT until 2020/21.
He also had an 8/10 year apprenticeship with Helen Turley at Marcassin.

Big styled chardonnay, but with impeccable balance. The ripe and delicious russian river fruit soars and is framed by incredible creaminess from malo and a hint of vanilla from french oak influence. This wine is a wonderful example of what the very best Russian River chards can be.

Feb 27th, 2018Was excited to try this and very happy to find that it met expectations. Ulysses Valdez is famous enough for his vineyards and the former Marcassin team makes the wine. So glad this wasn't in an overdone style, instead balanced and restrained but bursting with fruit. Can't wait to try more.

Dec 30th, 2016Delicious, perfectly balanced Chardonnay. Lemon and pear notes with a hint of vanilla and a creamy texture.
