Popped and poured; enjoyed over the course of an hour. The 2014 “Banfield” pours a deep garnet/purple color with an opaque core; medium+ viscosity with light staining of the tears and some signs of sediment. On the nose, the wine is vinous with notes of ripe and desiccated dark fruit: mixed brambles, black cherry, leather, coffee, licorice, earth and warm spices. On the palate, the wine is dry with medium tannin and medium acid. Confirming the notes from the nose. The finish is medium+ and the alcohol is noticeably high. Definitely made in a style that is over the top. Drink now.

While Arista is one of my favorite Pinot producers, this was OK. Deep opaque purple. Lively black fruit. Definitely tannic. High acidity.

Gorgeous. Even better after another year on it. Jamminess has died down and it’s now a beautiful, more subtle zin.
