Soil Specific Sauvignon Blanc
So many prior notes, Iβm not going to go into detail here, but in my mind, thereβs a paradox here... Katz (the winemaker) has stripped away the usual embellishments, and produced a minimal, laser-focused SB. The major notes of exotic fruits and acidity ring as clear as a bell. Brilliant.

Jul 19th, 2020π Iβve been excited to try this barrel-fermented and -aged Sauvignon Blanc from the Dry Stack Vineyard of Bennet Valley, Sonoma County, thanks to the amazing reviews from @Ron R. πΊπΈ Itβs actually a blend, comprised of 98% Sauvignon Blanc and 2% Semillon, reminiscent of a Bordeaux Blanc (winemaker Jesse Katz actually studied winemaking in Haut-Brion, Bordeaux; it shows). @jkatzwine
π This wine has strong clarity and a medium lemon hue.
π It immediately captures π· and focuses my senses on its youthful, layered nose offering complex aromas of ripe guava, mango, tangerine sherbet, passion fruit sorbet, lemon pith, lemongrass, fennel, white rose, cherry blossom, vanilla, and toast. ππππ
π On the palate this wine is dry, albeit rich, ripe, and sweet in its aroma and flavor characteristics. It has medium(+) acidity, a medium body, medium alcohol, and pronounced intensity in flavors consistent with the nose. The finish lingers. π
The richness and vanilla, toasty aromas and flavors were undoubtedly influenced by the 6 months aging in 1/3 New French Oak, 1/3 Once Used French Oak, and 1/3 Neutral French Oak Barrels. πͺ΅
Aperture, Sauvignon Blanc, Sonoma County, 2019, ABV 13.6%. @aperturecellars

Exceptional Sauvignon Blanc! Layers upon layers of nuances for the nose and palate! I am getting white fruits, tropical fruits, white flowers, gripping acidity, honeycomb, and minerals! Mid palate has a wonderful creaminess then leads into a 45 sec+ finish. With this description.. not
even beginning to dig deep (to tired)! I really enjoy wines from Alexander Valley!
Peeps π£ try and get some!
