Las Piedras Vineyard Beckstoffer Cabernet Sauvignon
Very well made wine for a classic Napa vineyard. Loads of violet, black cherry, blackberry and cassis, with traces of cedar, mint, dried flowers, mocha, and graphite. The fruit is ever so slightly unfocused compared to the My. Veeder bottling. Very good and well made but a touch overripe for my taste.

Jul 14th, 2020This has got to be the most intricate and detailed label I have ever seen. The back label gives so much information on the vineyard, down to the soil type and composition! I believe Jeff Ames (of Tor & Rudius) is the winemaker here.
@Mark Flesher opened this beauty and it had us thinking the entire time we enjoyed it (only a glass or two before needing to leave). I'll be honest...I'm not sure I've had a Las Piedras wine before. This had a lot more red fruit to it than I expected. At 7 years old, this hasn't even begun its ascent to its peak. The nose on this was gorgeous...that sweet/candied liqueur note alongside dusty blackberries. Almost a bit more pine than cedar here. Rhubarb. The mid palate here is very elegant. Mark mentioned that the nose and entry reminded him of a Caymus SS. The finish seemed like it couldn't make up its mind. Currant, red licorice and faint nutmeg. I feel like this probably revealed much more on day 2...Mark, let me know how it evolved!

A fantastic infographic label on the back.
This is wound very very tight. Not at all ready for prime time even with 4 hours of air.

Big black berries (raspberry and currants) immediately upon opening and through the initial taste. Extremely tight tannins, too young to thoroughly appreciate. Sit on this for five plus years.

1 person found it helpfulOct 15th, 2015 Absolutely loved the detail on the bottle. Had this with some very fatty ribeyes and just absolutely hit it out of the park. A deep nose it almost comes off. Still hot with alcohol, but dry forest floor and rich garrique scents. Very bold and rich with ripe bursting plum, Rosemary, thyme, and butter, definitely enough structure to hold up against a good thick steak. Can’t believe this thing is 11 years old and still kicking it.
