I had an earlier vintage of this at my bachelorette wine tasting almost 6 years ago and loved it so much that I bought this vintage. Glad to say that it stands the test of time. When you first open it up, the nose has a lot of berries, blackberries and cherries. and initially it is relatively acidic. But it opens up, especially with food, and brings out the vanilla and spice notes. Truly a lovely blend.

Two quick things right off the bat: this one was definitely better on day two, so a bit of time to breath will do this wine good. Second, I actually enjoyed this better by itself, rather than with food. Nice layers of dark fruit from the Syrah and bright red fruit from the Zin. Good stuff.

Smooth, some hints of chocolate and fruit. But, not very complex.

Very nice paring with chili, the spice from the Zin complimented really well. Would love to have this again with BBQ
