Not a bad bottle of Merlot, especially when you consider it was about $5 and I generally don't care for the grape. S Africa definitely gives the feel of an old world style, but with an almost exotic feel (brambly vegetation/fruit always comes to mind). Probably not going to appeal to your basic California Merlot drinker, but that shouldn't stop you.
