Castrillo de Duero Tinto Tempranillo

This is my kind of Ribera Del Duero. Big, but balanced and without any overusage of new oak.

Old vine single vineyard Tempranillo, neutral French barrels, nothing added nothing taken away. Black cherry, dusty chalky tannins and a brightness of acidity that keeps one coming back for more. Now...where did I leave that goat stew?

Not had any of this in yonks. Proper cuddly bottle. Old pal. Hearty gear.

Love the depth of fruit and classical tannic structure.

Very easy to drink Tempranillo. Went well with pecorino cheese.

Weird red. Rather high volatile acidity but (weirdly) improved after decanting. Noticed this wine mentions not having SO2 or animal clarifying agents. Seemed like a decadent wine but it is worth mentioning that is rather well conserved all things considered. Good astringency on the mouth.
