Aléofane
St. Joseph Syrah
Pretty yummy St Joseph. 2012. A good, pleasant wine, with all typicity of the appellation. The younger sister of Yann Chave; apparently he inherited his parents' domaine and she struck out on her own. I'll be interested to try her Crozes-Hermitage. This bottle was $32 at Winehound in SB.

Jul 26th, 2015Pleasant northern Rhône selection, sour cherry with a dusty, earthy bite. More fruity than savory. Better than the Crozes IMO.

Oct 9th, 2021Very composed and subtle Syrah from Northern Rhone with some age on it. Burnt red on the eye. Lots of black cherry on the nose, some blood and only a hint of white pepper. The mouthfeel is elegant; full bodied, medium alcohol with powerful black fruit but equally powerful with earth, iron, soft tannings, and a decadent finish. Amazing find. Vigneron: Natasha Chave. If you don’t know who she is, you probably should.
