Clarinet Marechal Foch
Very interesting wine. Lots of spice and black fruit up front then turns a little jammy with cherries on the finish. A little odd. Grape is Marachal Foch??

Aug 29th, 2014This is an interesting and unique, if not odd wine. It's very fully bodied, and smooth with little tannins. Very fruit forward. The nose is jammy, black fruit, with a slight amount of vanilla and something petrol like. In the mouth there's ripe black fruit, and vanilla; almost reminiscent of something like black current jam. There's a very slight bitterness like that of espresso. Very smooth with a surprisingly long finish.
It's hard for me to rate this as it's a first trying Marechal Foch and I have no basis for comparison. Having said that it'd an interesting experience and I think the overall ratings are too low. While I might not rush to buy a bottle it's differently an interesting experience to drink by the glass.

This wine is an example of the growth and maturity of the Cowichan Valley as an up and coming wine region. This wine has a strong nose, and gets even better after a wait. I will drink it again, though the 2007 is likely now out of circulation.
