Riserva Vereto Salice Salentino Negroamaro

Salice Salentino DOP, Riserva 2009, 13%.
Tasted in February 2015, at "deGusto Salento" event.

Weak fruit aromas with pepper. Hints of smoke and stronger solvent. Tastes not very fruity. Black cherries maybe? Not very acidic but pleasing tannins. A bit thin and underwhelming overall.

Great wine for price if you like a strong earthy licorice finish. Good balance of tannins. Starts blueberries ends like damp earth.

Juicy, easy drinking. Black plums, blackberries, licorice and damp earth. Easy drinking, not too rustic for a Tuesday. Can't beat the price.

Earthy, a little funk, great fruit, mimics Pinot Noir, strawberries on the nose and finish. Crisp acidity.

Juicy fruit, good structure (tannin and acid)

2006 Vereto Salice Salentino. Calandros $12.99. Grape is negroamaro 90% with malvasia nera 10%. Did not like.
