Addax
Sonoma County Sauvignon Blanc
It's no secret that I'm a big Addax fan. I think their Sauv Blanc is my favorite in all of Napa Valley. That said, I normally drink the '14 SB...it's unfiltered and unfined and made by Bevan, and I personally think it's better than Bevan's Dry Stack. That being said, Bevan started making wine for Addax around '11 or '12, and prior to that, it was Luc Morlet. So, this is Luc's expression of SB. Still cloudy, but not as much as Bevan's take. Nose is extremely similar which is awesome for a 2010. White flowers and stone fruit on the nose. Lighter than the '14. Tart nectarine notes on the front and mid palate, but a savory and crisp/graphite finish on the end. It's 97 degrees in TX, so give me the chilled stuff!

Jun 16th, 2017Here's my pick for Sauv Blanc of the year! Gorgeous juice. Straw colored in the glass. The nose has a rockin bouquet of peach and kiwi juice. On the tongue is ripe nectarine, crushed white flowers on graphite. Hint of tart. Love the small percentage of Semillon blended in. Hats off to the power duo of Russell Bevan and Josh Peeples.

Nov 12th, 2016Without a doubt, this was the best time to drink this wine. A very tropical nose, with hints of mango and melon and candied walnut. The entry did not seem to have as much citrus influence as the nose did. However, this wine has not lost very much despite the 2014 label might suggest. This was surprisingly crisp. More to the mango and honeydew side. I had mentioned a tart note at the last entry, which was all but gone this time around. LOTS of floaters in the bottle. Finished very strong, and actually wishing I had a few more of these, as I don't really see this one going anywhere for the next two or three years. Solid bottle. Outdid a Bevan labeled 2014 that it was enjoyed right beside which already has lost a step IMO.

Jun 22nd, 2019TART Sauv Blanc. WOW. Makes your lips pucker. This one pours with a little bit of cloudiness to it. The nose would make this one indicate that this is a sweet, fruit crush even flinty kind of wine. The palate immediately hits you with a tangerine rind that just never lets go. Finishes with a nice acidity. This one would go really well with fruit salad and some lemon parmesan fish. Finishes again with that awesome tangerine rind. Nice little white, and last one as I understand it.

Jul 1st, 2017Yes 2010 SB - darker gold color with subtle white summer stone fruit. This wine, which has 20% Semilion gives it a creamy honey finish. Having it with grilled quesadilla. Mama Mia beautiful!! Welcome to Independence Day weekend!!! Thank you Luke M for this treat. Russel B took over winemaking a few years later

Jul 3rd, 2016Peach pit, nectarine, pie crust, and hints of oak on the nose. Tropical fruits and kiwi start off the medium density palate. Finishes with candied grapefruit rind. 80% SB with 20% Semillon, which gives this some weight and ageability.
