We laid down this wine almost two decades ago in our home cellar, as the vintage year of 1996 was our daughter’s birth year. Now she’s 21 and the whole family was eager to sample what it had become. We went to the Brazilian churrascaria Fogo de Chao to make sure there would be plenty of different types of meat to pair with this well aged red. In a word—great. Silky and perfumed, earthy and complex, textbook aged Bordeaux. I couldn’t stop drinking it but made sure my wife and daughter got their share too! I’m excited that we still have five bottles left.
