Château Pouget

Margaux Red Bordeaux Blend 2013

Cedar, cigar box, black currant, earth, and a floral thing lingering in the background (could it be a rose scent?) the palate is rather on the thin side, a small, pleasant matter without weight, a radiant black currant fruit all along, some joyful tannins, with a grain which gives it a nice complex mouthfeel. The finish is fruity, a bit toasty and leaves a nice aftertaste. We paired it with homemade spaghetti bolognese (I know it's a bit decadent 😏) and the pairing actually worked better than expected. This is certainly not a good vintage, thus the wine lacks a bit of horse power but it's delicate, complex and very well done. I like it very much! #sundaynighttreat(before the night actually begins 😅) — 4 years ago

Nice description. Less good years are often a great pleasure to drink.

@Peter van den Besselaar thank you! This one is certainly in a great place right now. Not the greatest, but it delivers loads of pleasure at every sip and opens up with air

Cantina di Soave

Cadis Amarone della Valpolicella Corvina Blend 2015

Raisins, graphite, pencil lead, cherry, a very inviting nose. The palate is wonderful! Superb balance with a strong acid backbone, a very nice fruit (cherry) and raisins touches too. A very suave and soft touch on the sides. As long as wide, this wine is showing nice levels of complexity. Gentle tannins and an expending finish with raisins and cherry. The finish is wider than the palate, what a ride! 3rd encounter and again blown away. Levels!

Domaine de la Janasse

Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2012

Licorice, strawberry, spices,a bit of garrigue too. Intoxicating nose. The palate is very good, long and complex but could be a little bit denser and wider. A strong acid backbone, a nice fruit and some licorice all along, some tannins and a very velvety touch. Some tannins kick the rear up a tad to make way for a very persistent finish with licorice and red fruits. This is a very nice #sundaynighttreat. — 5 years ago

Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande

Réserve de la Comtesse Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 1990

Forrest soil, mushrooms, black currant, a bit of meat juice, cigar box, tar. Wow what a nose! The palate is very balanced. Tannins are integrated but only partially. This wine could actually age some more! Soft touch o' the sides with a velvety layer, strong acid backbone that makes this wine precise and long, some dusty tannins pop up in the rear to give some complexity to the whole picture. Very long finish with currant that expands a bit. This is 29 years old and showing a bit of aging but it is not past its peak. This could be a bit more concentrated considering the vintage and this would make it magnificent but this is already a very nice tasting. #sundaynighttreat — 5 years ago
