As soon as I saw this Dormilona 2017 Blanco available on The Wine Gallery’s website, I knew it was destined to be part of this months #thetcwineclub.
Dormilona means lazy bones in Spanish which is a nickname winemaker Jo Perry picked up in Spain however it also refers to her hands off approach to winemaking.
About this wine:
💀 Made from Semillon grapes, but I believe there’s a splash of Chenin Blanc in the mix too (please correct me if I’m wrong Jo!)
💀 Made from handpicked organic and biodynamic grapes from WA’s Margaret River
💀 Whole bunch pressed, skin contact, lees stirring and some time spent in older oak to add texture
We found this white a pale yellow colour on the eye with a slight cloudiness to it. The nose it’s a full of fresh herbs, orange rind and green apples for me. While in the mouth it’s full of juicy lemon acidity, more apples, a hint of peach and lick of beeswax. A unique and incredibly moreish white wine that’s good fun to drink.
All opinions are based on my own taste buds. Wine is subjective & always evolving, so make sure you drink what you enjoy!
