Opened a few fun bottles to celebrate my birthday this past weekend. Cheers to 31!
Enjoyed en mag as a birth year wine on my birthday. I went back and forth with how much to decant (if at all), and ended up just giving this about 10-15mins to blow off some funk while still in bottle and the fireworks started. Youthful. In the glass, deep, dark purple with a black core. Didn’t notice any bricking. Huge aromatics of graphite, dusty yet ripe blackberries, bay leaf and saddle leather. From start to finish, the wine was still pretty dense with good tannic structure. The palate showed more sweet pipe tobacco, black fruits and dark cocoa dusted dates. We enjoyed this over the course of probably an hour and a half and it stood strong the entire time and never fell off. A gorgeous wine! — 6 years ago
