@Delectable Wine this is actually the Riserva. Popped and poured. The 1983 Podere il Palazzino “Chianti Classico Riserva” pours a deep, hazy garnet color with significant rim variation that leads to a burnished orange rim. On the nose the wine is vinous and laden with secondary notes. The fruit is mostly desiccated at this point. Dried cherries, dried orange, dried leather, forest floor, damp earth, some soft spices. The structure is barely holding on with the tannins completely integrated and the acid just enough to keep it alive. But the main point here is that it is, in fact, alive and it’s always a special treat to experience a 40 year old wine; let alone a Chianti Classico Riserva. Drink now. Bottle #3778 — a year ago
