12 October 2018; Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyards tasting.

Nose of honey, vinyl curtain, tart stone fruit.
Palate has rich honey, ripe peach, wet crushed slate.

Amazing bottle, 60 cases made from 2 vineyard rows which were harvested late.

This single select Riesling was actually selected by the nature. With noble rot all over the grapes from a small parcel of the one and only Josef vineyard, the wine offers a very pronounced nose: dried marmalade peel, honeysuckle, raisin and dried apricot. On the palate it feels special: mouth coating sweetness balanced by its great acidity. Totally rounded and pristine, yet the length is quite long from the front to the back. After taste brings candied pear and dried dates. So dense yet pure, so flavorful yet concentrated. This wine is a nexus of complicity and simplicity - a singularity. Personally hope it can be fermented a little bit longer.
