Nothing like a Peter Michael as the warmup wine. Crisp and sophisticated.

There were two of these on the table. The 2016 and 2012. Although this one seemed to have a much lighter, brighter, lemon zest sort of backbone going on, the 2012 was more rounded with more depth and actually seemed to dispatch this one quite easily. However it would be a little bit of an unfair thing to compare each of these to the other because they are both beautiful wines. With the zestiness and spring of this one, combined with a slight grit of mineralogy on the finish, this one would pair amazingly well with boiled/chilled shrimp, chilled lump crab meat, or raw oysters. A really delicious wine that obviously shows it can hold at least 4 years given the 2012 was still going strong.
