Feels most similar to a friendly oaked Tempranillo, but being a blend, this offers notably deeper spice and fruit. Rhubarb and golden raisin are good descriptors for the dank fruitiness of the nose. On the palate it's all about balance: lively acid that doesn't contradict the richness, well-present tannins that don't overstay their welcome, and sweet, vegetal, red and black fruit facets that all coexist to mutual benefit. These location wines aren't in my normal $10-13 price range, but this one delivers an experience not out of keeping with its ~$20 price tag.
