Ridded w/ biological activity in this bottle, from slight spritz, volatility, and considerable particulate and haze. Quite possibly the most 4-EP/4-EG riddled wine I’ve had. This had been in the cellar for a bit, curious what a day will do. After 2 hours some musky fruit was beginning to show. A little disappointed but bottle variation and “living” wines are par for the course w/ Barral. Day 2: overwhelming brett and mousiness 😂😂😂

Léger éthanal en fin de bouche, phénols volatils présents. Dommage.

Damp leather, mushrooms, crushed black cherries, dried flowers, cigar, resinous herbs, rotting wood, latex, licorice, smells and tastes like a musky old cellar. Despite all the earth and funk there are still these bright fruit/floral tones that push through. Contemplative, surprising, complex and advanced. 50% carignan, 30% grenache, 20% cinsault. Vines avg. 40-70 years!

2012. Aromatics are joyous with black cherry, cocoa, herbs and flowers. Filled with fruit yet nimble on the palate, elegant even, with a finish of sun-baked stone. More "natural" than most wines promoted that way.

Not a wine for everyone. But wow. So expressive. Carrignan blend. So rustic and stinky. Beautiful
