This was my favorite wine today that seemed to just keep building in the glass showing the classic LMHB magic. Black fruits, soy, graphite, cedar, leather, licorice, mineral, cigar box & violet. A magical vintage for me that I have had many times & never disappoints!

Perfectly stored btl of La Mission that is one of my favorite drinking vintages. This has been fully mature for more than 10 years & has not lost a step showing the classic La Mish character. An underrated vintage that has never disappointed.

A touch of band aid. Blood, clear red fruit and depth. Interesting more than delicious. As the wine progressed in glass a more brambly and leather undertow emerged and some funk blew off. Getting better. Geez, these wines age.

Tonight I thought I would open this LMHB as the 2019 was released on futures yesterday. It may be a better wine but you are going to have to wait a long time to find out. The 66 is a wine where I have opened more than 6 cases in the last 5 yrs & consider it one of the great vintages for current drinking showing black fruits, cassis, saddle leather, smoke, tar, graphite, licorice, soy, tobacco & violets. This has been fully mature for 10 yrs & perfectly stored btls will continue to drink well for many years. One of the wines that keeps me searching & drinking old Bordeaux!

Another good btl of 66 that has red & black fruits, tar, cedar, leather, forest floor & cigar ash. Fresh btls will continue to drink well.
