Remarkably young, powerful and fresh. Not quite as perfumed or elegant as the 1982 today, but still superb. Nothing better than being with friends.

The 1990 vintage is still kicking ass and taking names. Just starting to really settle into its massive tannins and funky earth. Served from magnum.

I am on a bad streak. This was completely underwhelming. Did a careful decant and tried it every hour for the first 6 hours. It just didn’t wish to cooperate. Got better in hour 4 but was just not that interesting. As a mature wine it did t have the focus or intensity I expected. I haven’t tried this producer at this aging but I was expecting much more based on the reviews for the vintage. Not spoiled and not raisiny but just too inward. Upon looking at the cork it’s clear this was not a legitimate Conterno Monfortino. Wrong size markings and condition. I bought online from a reputable auction house but this was definitely a fake! I guess I was due

Decanted for 7 hours. Still young. This wine lives up to its reputation. Absolutely stunning nose. Notes of tar, earth, spices, cherry. Medium body and simply beautiful. Bought on release.
