Les Quartz Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend

Kirsch and bacon fat, asphalt and limestone. Black pepper. Sweet tobacco. Peaking.

I hope expected to be flattened by this wine and while it showed pretty, raspberry and garrigue notes it seemed a little wobbly already. Possibly not well stored?

Wow, just Wow--Simply in a perfect place and drinking beautifully, the 2005 Domaine de Caillou Les Quartz Chateauneuf du Pape takes some time to open up. Nearly an hour in a decanter transforms plum sauce and brown spice into ripe cherry, blackberry with a citrus spritz, sweet rose, smoky minerals, undergrowth and animal musk. It's silky and rich on the palate, without being heavy, showing mineral-infused red and black fruits, backed by zippy acidity and spice, leaving a fresh yet grippy sensation. The finish is long, and still structured, teeming with lively energy and sizzling away to a note of tart raspberry and tobacco. This has a decade worth of maturity in store for us... If you can find it, don't hesitate!

This wine's so massive it's bigger than your mom! The acid is good too :)

Very youthful, high tannins, ripe but pretty red fruits. 85% Grenache, 15% Syrah amazing taste of minerals/rocks

Solid, smooth as silk. Crushed rocks, fab fruit with raspberries. Sylvie and P. Cambie are killin' it.

Took a while to open. Huge tannins. Improved tremendously with 30 minutes

Wow, massive. Amazing. Intense plum, spices, some hot stones on the long finish. This could still get better over next 3-5years...

Wow. Yum! Tons of plum, lush fruit. Tannins are not there. Hint of hot rocks in the nose. Great wine.
