I don't know how I feel about this. Super closed most of the night and a lot less fruit than I expected for the age. After trying the 05, 07, and 92 I expected more.

Tout simplement un grand vin, puissant et fin à la fois, on distingue à peine le Grenache qui n'est pas mon cépage favori.

Simply a great wine, powerful, classy, elegant with such finesse and incredibly textured tannins and a length that lasts so long. 94-95

What a treat. May have guessed a Bordeaux on cork pop but with some air this reveals itself. Lots of dark fruit, leather, etc, on the nose. On the palate this really shines with deep fruit and incredible acid that carries throughout. Very long finish. A complete wine and perfect pairing partner for classic French fare. Heat from the alcohol is less noticeable than expected. Very nice!

A wine of the year candidate, spectacularly graceful yet complex wine. On the nose, beef stock, Christmas cake, plums and herbs de Provence. But rather than being heavy it fairly floats across the palate, gorgeous acidity carrying the fruit through to a long finish. Clearly this is drinking very well but i reckon a few more years in bottle would not be a bad idea. The 2000.
