Barsac 1er Cru Sémillon-Sauvignon Blanc Blend

Weekly Wednesday wine committee. This week we had 1 sparkler, 3 whites, 3 reds, 1 dessert. All tasted blind as normal.

I’ve been spoiled with birth year wines as of late and this was no exception. Nobody guessed it was older than 10yrs! Shocked at how light in color it still was. Retained some orange blossom, chamomile, honeyed caramel almonds. Wonderful Sauternes.

Just starting to turn a light carmel color, but tastes so incredibly young. Even out of .375 this still has decades in it. Beautiful wine.

Awesome. ..fresh, young, needs 10 more years to show complexity. .

A baby still

A nice drinking sticky. Lacked precision and depth to make it very good. But tasty enough with a cheese plate. No hurry opening any of these.

This wine still has

One of the best Sauternes I've ever had. Complex tropical fruit with classic honey butterscotch flavors. Prefectly balanced

Perfect accompaniment for a peach and ginger upside down cake for dessert. Lovely vanilla and peach notes. Showing just beautifully at 30 years of age.

Still reasonably light colored, some orange and lemon. Nice treat to end a spectacular evening!
