Jan 1st, 2020Absolutely brilliant. This is one of the best grenaches I’ve had in a long time. Incredible aromas of plumbs, blackberries, candied blueberries, along with hints of cinnamon and clove. The palate is absolutely stunning: seamless evolution of fruit coupled with perfectly intergrated sweet tannins leading to a finish that goes on for over a minute. I have no idea if this will improve with more time in the cellar, but I have no idea why you would wait: this is unreal. Manfred Krankle is a GOD!!! 👍

Oct 28th, 2018The 2007 Grenache edges the Syrah by just a hair in my opinion. Good problem to have though deciding between the two. Bottle 6/9 of the evening. (Did I mention Ralph likes to share the SQN?)

May 21st, 2017This needs to lay down for another ten years or so before it hits it's peak. Very well balanced, incredible fruits with a very high dose of alcohol on the finish.

Dec 25th, 20161st off, Tarantella is just mind boggling! 1999 and still going strong. One of my all time favorite SQN whites. Honeyed perfume of mangos and tangerines. Still vibrant. Still fresh! Manfred's whites are beyond comparison. A league of his own. DB's aromatics are off the charts. Blackberry fruits, camphor and lavender (OK @Bill Bender get ready for @Dag Zapatero flower hatred). 10's across the board in both mouthfeel and texture. Massive yet elegant and light on it's feet. A Krankl hallmark. Lingering finish. 3 For 3 on Roman's Big 3 scale: Nose, Texture and Finish. Finally, Saxum. I didn't give this much of a decant as this was a late request from a friend. I'll not rate it now. Check in later in the evening.
