Les Bauchets Extra Brut Pinot Noir

Super dry on the nose with bright red fruit in the palate. Unique for a champagne (at least for me) to get bright sour cherry with a bit of bruised red apple and great acidity

disgorged 23 February 2016, planted 1983 south-easterly facing plot is located at mid-slope on very sandy soil. 100% Pinot Noir, 2.5g/l dosage, made in vats and small oak barrels. Starburst nose, expressive of strawberry and cherry, deeply red fruited, fruit disappears on palate--austere and dominated by structural elements, with fruit recessed to a beautiful haunting memory, rocky and dry, complex and silencing, a world-stopping moment of greatness, a Champagne worthy of ending a year

Good but not memorable?

High pitched and airy with red cherry, pomegranate and red current fruit that is supported by a touch of creamy yeast and dry stones. Texture is just lovely with high pitch cherry, lemon zest and red apple fruit. Flavian has a deft touch.
Disgorged in June 2017

Perfectly balanced and surprisingly light and sharp for a 100% Pinot Noir. A great summertime BdN.
