Inky dense purple, highly extracted pigment. Cherry, plum, mint notes in nose with hints of vanilla and funk. Smells colossal, basically. Black licorice, then cherry flavors with length, good acidity and tannins. Have patience with this one, decant but the fruit is there from the get-go. Also some ash and cola as myself and others have noted before.

Cherry and cocoa flavor with tar and light cola-ish finish. Light skin tannin astringency in aftertaste. Tobacco, ash and a hint of black pepper emerge in finish after an hour. Nice varietal complexity, light but rightly balanced on the acid and alcohol fronts.

Brambly, stemmy flavors with graphite and blueberry aromas. Could use a few more years of bottle age.
