Bright medium-dark red. Less expressive on the nose than the Clos Saint-Jacques but a step up in intensity and freshness in the mouth. More serious on the attack than the Clos Saint-Jacques, then more saline in the middle palate, conveying a sappy quality to its distinctly dark purple fruit flavors. Offers noteworthy nervosité and needs at least as much time as the Clos Saint-Jacques. Finishes with a serious spine of dusty tannins. Bruno Clair noted that he prefers the finish of the Clos Saint-Jacques today. (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, March 2018)

Favorite wine overall of trip home, need to have this again in 15 years, but showing beautifully now as well. Pungent, lifted nose of floral cranberries and cherries, fur and stock, clove and orange, mesmerizing and deep...the palate was saturated in flavor, but so airy and graceful i nearly cried. Like a master violinist playing the strings of your nerves, this wine paralyzed me with its song. Father preferred bonnes mares, for me its the beze. Power without weight, carrying itself with the utmost of grace. Phenomenal. 2008 vintage.

Coffee grounds on nose - oak showing at this stage along with spice and berries. Really good - Grand Cru quality showing through. Medium to long term cellaring. Apart from the Leroy the highest consensus points from this bracket came from Chambertin and Clos de Beze. As Roscoe from Prince Wine Store said "the monks got it right"!
