Dark garnet-ish lightly glass-coating purple in the glass. Cassis, ash, and cigar box on the nose. Echoed on the palate with firm tannins and medium plus acidity. Long, dark tarry finish. New World fruit with an Old World ethos making it just as “food friendly” as wine is supposed to be, and still going strong thirteen and a half years on. I’m enjoying mine with beef stew in the aftermath of a classic nor’easter. Don’t wait for one in your region.

Deep glass-clinging ruby garnet. Nose of cassis and vanilla. Full body and medium acidity. Cassis and coffee on the palate. Medium but present tannins and medium long finish. Very nice drink now.

Deep garnet purple in the glass. Nose is shy at first. Cassis and coffee on the palate. Soft tannins and medium plus acidity. Holding its own thanks to limited malolactic. A great food wine.

Leftover beef short ribs, mashed potatoes, asparagus, butter roasted radishes, and beet salad. Topped off with a 2006 Wellington Victory. I know it’s Tuesday, but why not treat ourselves?

Beautifully aged, a wonderful example of how good a Bordeaux style blend can be I the right hands.

As always, Wellington Victory makes an otherwise ordinary occasion something truly special. A little decanting, and it’s perfect.

Nice way to celebrate a birthday, at a really nice chophouse. Everything you could possibly want in a Bordeaux style blend. Alas, with Peter retired over 6 years now, our supply is dwindling. Fortunately, every bottle is a real treasure.
