The bottle and label certainly look ‘Prestige-ious’. Glass is embossed with the rams head crest. It was $4.99 at Gross Outlet though. Color is nice deep red rose petals with a little red-orange edge. Aroma is French wine. Cellar where the wine hangs out and lingers mixed with a zingy herbal/wood oil of some sort. Maybe some curry spices. Or dill? Flavors are woodsy and forestal. Berries too, but like your having them in a pile of fresh chipped bark. Little blackberry pie or mulberry sorbet on the finish. This is a great deal of a wine for 5 bucks. Maybe not exactly as prestigious as other reds in France, but it is a nice weekday supper, sipper from the south. Prestige of Languedoc… — 7 days ago
Standard label. Classy. Smells like mineral oil and olives on the pavement. Flavors are dry and smokey. Tingled. Complex. Cherry pits and smoke. This is damn good. Does Bordeaux proud. Right bank represent. — 9 days ago
Oh la la what a mermaid on the label. Easy screw-top. It’s a nice golden, peach color. Smells like fruits of the vine and tree. Stone fruits. Flavors are smooth and very easy to drink. This is a Rosé all day candidate. Goes down smooth. — 4 days ago
Central Coast Sauvignon Blanc. Yellow gold tint. Smells like lemons and rainwater in a pail. Flavors are nice. Bit ripe, but crisp streak. Balance is good. Dry and zesty. — 5 days ago
Second bottle. Bit rusty on the color. Aroma of stews of fruits. Plum sauce and such. Black berry and cherry flavors. Bit of licorice and char. It’s got some depth and complexity. Not exactly ‘fancy’ or ‘fine’, but it’s nice drinking stuff that goes for a great price. — 7 days ago
Basic label. Smells like cherry coke and wood oil. Flavors are complex and chewy. Cherry cola in flavors. Licorice too. Age-d. — 9 days ago
Cool enough label. Style of the standard CA. Dark color. Aroma is barrel and fruits. Cooked berries in a non-jam setting. Hint of vanilla. Flavors are good. Black currants and the cherry-berry. Dry. Has some decent character. — 5 days ago
Fairly simple label. Does look like the area it came from in the art though. I grew up there. Dark, dark color of the skins of black cherry and plums. Smells like forests and berries and other red/black fruits. Strange streak. Licorice perhaps. Good-N-Plenty. Flavors are excellent. Spicy and full. The balance is good, but this should age for another 10-15 years. Earthy and funky. Elderberry, serviceberry, mulberry. Extraction is great. Hint of mint on end. This is a big and surprising red for 13.3% ABV. Not a familiar Arg or CA Malbec. Has terrior. Reminds me of the place. — 5 days ago
Smooth operator. Fruity nose. Good balance. Likable and fun, but not strange. It’s nice and easy. — 9 days ago
Tree Kilpatrick
Label has a rendering of a tree. It’s alright. Not too unique, but has a hint of style. Color is darker and more ruby than many of the fancy Pinot’s on the market. Smells like strawberries and wet bushes in a NW forest. Maybe some cedar or other type of wood. Flavors are dry, supple and tart. Has cherry and berry in there. Maybe more cranberry and raspberry than the sweet bright ones like straw. This is a thinking man’s Pinot. Austere, tannic and chewy. It was a great deal for $5-6 at G.O. — 3 days ago
