Stunning example of how to handle Viognier in Virginia. Matthieu! Par excellence - the mouth… The balance between oak and acid was glorious! at just four years from vintage, amazing quality, and so beautiful with the food. — 9 months ago
10/10/24 ALX Best of Virginia wine class. 100% Petit Manseng. Loved this one! Extremely tart and citrusy, light and refreshing. One of my (and Erin the wine guru!) favorite VA wines! — a month ago
From my birth state, still home at heart, Virginia, Barboursville Vineyards delivers with its Nebbiolo. Medium red in color pales to a pink on the rim--slightly more colorized than Piedmonte counterparts. On the nose are hints of kerosene (believe it), mint, and cherry. Medium plus acidity, medium plus alcohol (a bit hot on the tongue), and medium bodied. Red cherry and dried herbs on the plate. Drying, but pleasant tannins. This easily compares to a Langhe Nebbiolo of equal age. It would be interesting to taste older vintages. Very proud!!!

Even though 18 was a dramatically wet vintage, Michael knows how to coax enough tannin and acid from the rain logged clusters. Sorting must’ve been the real key here as the blend retained quite a bit of structure associated with other quality vintages. While a bit mellow and buttery, it was still very pleasant with the floral component. — 9 months ago
Yes, phenomenal Elegance the harmony of acid /structure / mouthfeel / finish :: 8yrs old! Virginia rocks Chardonnay at a world-class level. — a month ago
Well balanced, hints of under-ripe fruit — maybe melon and pear. Tastes like Chardonnay grape. Finish is interesting and slightly metallic. Quite nice, an unexpected surprise. — 3 months ago
Soooo balanced and fresh - considering it was 11 full years from vintage… Fabulous wine making from an average regular vintage — 39 cs, 35 Merlot, 17 cf, 9 pv — 9 months ago
