Candied raspberry and a hint of non-acetone nail polish remover on the nose, surprisingly brambley and woody/olive pit upfront given the nose, but nice rich plum and other fruits come through as well. Medium color and body, solid tannins but finish is a bit tannic for me. — 3 months ago

Sangiovese and Merlot. Tasted the 2012 at the winery which was too young and overpowered with oak. 2008 is nicely balanced, good fruit and lovely cherry aromas. — 10 years ago

Rocca di frassinello is made from the grapes varieties: 60% sangiovese/20% merlot/ 20% C/S. This wine has much more potential then the Poggio Valente (=100% sangiovese) and Crognolo (=90% sangiovese/10% merlot). — 4 years ago
